June is Caribbean American Heritage Month
Cities around the country - and especially Miami - are celebrating Caribbean American Heritage Month in June. This is an excellent time to visit Miami's heritage neighborhoods, including Little HaitiCoconut Grove Village West and Little Havana, which all showcase the many influences of Caribbean pioneer settlers and more recent immigrants that add to Miami's multicultural appeal.

Get Ready! 20th Annual AfriCANDO Returns September 25-28, 2018
The Miami Airport & Convention Center/DoubleTree Hilton Miami Airport & Convention Center will host the historic 20th Annual AfriCANDO 2018 conference September 25-28, 2018. During AfrICANDO 2018 experts will discuss how African nations can utilize Miami’s strategic location and proximity to Africa, to expand U.S. - Africa trade and investment and support the transition from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) to a more sustainable trading regime with the United States and countries in the Americas and the Caribbean. According to the World Bank, Economic Growth in Sub Sahara Africa is expected to accelerate over the 2.9 % achieved in 2017, as predicted. American Black Film Festival
The 22nd annual American Black Film Festival has come and gone. An amazing community of artists, executives, and tastemakers made their way to Miami for five days of ABFF talks, movie screenings, master classes run by industry insiders, and more. Celebrities such as Issa Rae, Ryan Coogler, and Miami’s own Rick Ross were in attendance. And best of all, we covered some of the highlights on our Instagram page. Be sure to check it out!

GMCVB Travel Industry Sales Returns from Successful Florida Road Show
GMCVB Travel Industry Sales Team and GMCVB Partners headed up the Annual Florida Road Show, June 11 - 15, 2018. The Miami delegation hosted travel agents in Naples, St. Petersburg, Tampa and a VIP event in Orlando. The turnout was very strong and agents were excited to see the Miami Team at each location; many attendees were from the cruise industry. Miami Sports Tourism 
First Ever International Champions Cup Women's Tournament Brings a Week of Soccer to Miami

The first-ever Women’s International Champions Cup comes to Miami this summer, bringing together the top female athletes in the world, in the tradition of the International Champions Cup (ICC).  The 2018 Women’s International Champions Cup will take place July 26–29 in Miami at Hard Rock Stadium with four of the world’s most elite teams competing for the inaugural Cup: Manchester City, Olympique Lyonnais, Paris Saint-Germain, and North Carolina Courage. The Women’s ICC Tournament will kick off a week-long celebration in Miami that allows fans to connect with the game at all levels. Top tier men’s matches will include Bayern Munich v Manchester City on July 28 and Manchester United v Real Madrid on July 31, along with opportunities for fans to catch these powerhouses in open training sessions on July 27 and July 30. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.  

Colombia vs. Venezuela Friendly Match Coming to Hard Rock Stadium 
Cardenas Marketing Network (CMN) Sports will partner with Relevant Sports to present an international soccer friendly on Friday, September 7 in Miami. The game will pit South American rivals Colombia and Venezuela at Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium. The CONMEBOL nation, currently ranked 39th in the world by FIFA, saw its most successful Copa América campaign in 2011 when it reached the semifinals but fell to Paraguay to finish fourth in the 43rd edition of the tournament. For tickets and more information, please visit HardRockStadium.

Multicultural Tourism & Development
a Pop-Up Panel Discussion on the Black Panther Movie
As part of the Art Talk series, the Contemporary African Diaspora Art (CADA) in collaboration with the Multicultural Tourism Team, will host a pop-up panel discussion on the Black Panther movie at the Betty Ferguson Center on Tuesday, June 26 at 6:30 p.m. The panel will feature film maker Keith Wade, global trade executive Desmond Alfohai, economist Don Davis, USVI research scientist Chipo Afamefuma, Haitian-American visual artist Nzingah Oniwosan, and will be moderated by film producer and cultural curator, Ludlow Bailey. As part of the Tourism Business Enhancement initiative, the GMCVB Multicultural Tourism Team invites small businesses to participate in the upcoming workshop focusing on Social Media and Digital Marketing as part of their Professional Business Workshop Series. The all-day seminar will be hosted on Thursday, June 28 at the GMCVB offices and focus on optimizing visibility using effective social media platforms, increasing revenue streams for profit and non-profit organizations, introducing resources to strengthen social media presence, and increasing brand identity. GMCVB Convention Sales Participates in the Association Forums - Honors Gala; A Celebration of the Achievements of the Association Industry, June 28, 2018

The Honors Gala is a tradition for Chicagoland associations and serves as Association Forum Foundation’s cornerstone fundraising event of the year. The evening brings together nearly 800 association professionals and suppliers to celebrate and honor the achievements of industry colleagues and partners. GMCVB Convention Sales Team will be hosting clients from the American Bar Association, which produces 300 meeting annually. Greater Miami will be receiving additional exposure and acknowledgement as the CVB hosts an after dinner, “Found in Miami” themed Cigar Bar. The GMCVB will have a great opportunity to promote and sell the destination along with the newly imagined Miami Beach Convention Center to this important audience of meeting professionals.

GMCVB Convention Sales & Services Sells Greater Miami at the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Annual Meeting in Los Angeles on June 24-27, 2018
Greater Miami will be host of Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Annual Meeting in June 2019. In preparation to welcome MDRT, the GMCVB Convention Sales & Services Team along with our partner at the Miami Beach Convention Center will be promoting at their annual meeting this year in Los Angeles on June 24-27. A dedicated concierge booth equipped with all the latest information on Greater Miami and the Beaches including fun promotional items will get attendees excited about next year’s host at our premier destination, which of course includes the newly renovated and re-imagined Miami Beach Convention Center. MDRT expects to draw over 10,000 attendees in 2019.

GMCVB Media Relations & Promotions Kicks-Off Summer with Found in Miami Activation and Celebrity Interview Lounge at KTUphoria in New York
GMCVB Media Relations & Promotions Team were at Jones Beach Theater in New York, Miami’s top domestic market, on June 16 to bring the “Found in Miami” global marketing campaign to life at the KTUphoria 2018 concert event. In partnership with WKTU (103.5 KTU, The Beat of New York) and iHeart Media, the GMCVB hosted a consumer-facing “Found in Miami” social media activation from 1:30-6:00 pm with promotions for meet and greet passes with the artists and a Miami weekend grand prize trip. In addition, the GMCVB was a presenting sponsor of the “Found in Miami” artist interview lounge which included appearances by Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth, Ne-Yo, Enrique Iglesias, Sting & Shaggy, Pitbull, and special guest Backstreet Boys.

GMCVB Teams up with GMBHA and SFCA for Networking Mixer
GMCVB Partnership Development Team along with The Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association (GMBHA) and the South Florida Concierge Association (SFCA) hosted a Networking mixer on June 14 at the Miami Seaquarium for the Unveiling of the Miami Seaquarium’s new Main Street Entrance with touch pools. Eric Eimstad, General Manager for Miami Seaquarium, welcomed everyone and spoke about upcoming renovations. More than 150 partners attended the event and had the chance to view the Sea Lion show as well as take part in excellent networking. Special thanks to our partner and hosts at the Seaquarium for a wonderful event.
