Brazilian Products Excluded from New Tariffs

The White House has issued an Executive Order imposing an additional 40% ad valorem duty on most Brazilian-origin products, bringing total tariffs to 50% for products originated in Brazil. However, hundreds of key product categories have been explicitly excluded from this increase. We’re pleased to share the good news, which includes—but is not limited to—the following:

  • Civil aircraft and aircraft parts
  • Orange juice and Brazil nuts
  • Iron ore, pig iron, wood pulp
  • Energy products (crude oil, natural gas)
  • Precious metals (gold, silver)
  • Fertilizers and certain chemicals
  • Certain types of wood

The White house also announced a transit grace period: Goods loaded before 12:01a.m. ET on August 6 and received into US customs by October 5, 2025 are exempt from the additional 40% tariff.

These exclusions substantially reduce the effective tariff impact on Brazil’s key export sectors—including mining, pulp and paper, energy, aircraft manufacturing, and agriculture—providing significant relief to many global businesses and supply chains.

We are actively monitoring developments and will keep you informed of any further updates.
