April 25, 2024
Dear BACCF Members and Friends,
Our organization has been extremely active during the first quarter of 2024! We would like to welcome our new members who have joined the BACCF as well as thank our existing members and sponsors for their continuous support!
We began the year with an exceedingly informative breakfast hosted by Carlton Fields where Ambassador Rubens Barbosa spoke about Brazil-US Relations and the prospects and opportunities between the two countries. We had the pleasure of organizing a luncheon hosted by Shutts & Bowen and Prae Venire featuring the CEO of Suzano, Walter Shalka, who gave an insightful presentation about the company’s history and where it is heading in the future.
Our Annual Feijoada (aka “The Beans”) at Chima Steakhouse was a Sold-Out success and we thank the numerous sponsors (BB Americas Bank, Inter&Co, Piquet Law Firm, FedEx, and Shutts & Bowen), and supporters (Consulate General of Brazil in Miami, AcheiUSA Media Group, Raya 3, Ronira Photography, São Paulo Cachaça, among others) who supported us and everyone who attended the event. Additionally, we held our first Open Mic – Membership Virtual Networking event where everyone had a chance to present themselves and their business to the rest of the attendees.
At the request of the Consulate General of Brazil, for whom we are extremely grateful for their continuous and unwavering support of our events and activities, we hosted an informative session for a group of representatives from Sinop, MT, Brazil. Later that week we encountered the group again at the 26th Inter-American Conference of Mayors and Local Authorities organized by the Miami-Dade International Trade Consortium (ITC) where the President of the Union of Entities of Sinop (Unesin), Cleyton Laurindo, was one of the guest speakers. At the same event, we had the pleasure of meeting up with some long-term friends and acquaintances such as Miami-Dade County District 12 Commissioner, Juan Carlos “JC” Bermudez, Global Engagement officer of the ITC, Manuel J. Gonzalez, Chair of the Beacon Council International Advisory Board, Hernando Gomez, and the President of CAMACOL, Joe Chi.
In partnership with the Miami office of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, (ApexBrasil) we organized a luncheon hosted by Apex featuring President, Jorge Viana, as the keynote speaker who spoke about Brazil’s dynamic industries, such as Renewable Energy, Agrotech, and Sustainability, and how Brazil is not only a US ally but also a reliable business partner for companies looking to relocate their Asian operations to a closer location with a more amenable time zone.
In March, the representatives of the BACCF, Piquet Law Firm, BB Americas Bank, FedEx, Center Group, Drummond Advisors, and Driftwood Capital completed the first round of the BACCF 2024 Road Show in Brazil, with events in Porto Alegre, Florianópolis, São Paulo, Maringá, Londrina and Curitiba. With the support of various local organizations such as the Federação das Indústrias do Estado de Santa Catarina (FIESC), Investe São Paulo (InvestSP), Federação das Indústrias do Estado do Paraná (FIEP), Centro Internacional de Negócios do Paraná (CIN) Associação Comercial e Industrial de Londrina (ACIL), Programa de Qualificação para Exportação (PEIEX), Serviço Brasileiro de Apoio às Micro e Pequenas Empresas (SEBRAE), Associação Comercial de Maringá (ACIM), Universidade UniCesumar, and Miguel Couto Advogados Associados, over 700 people signed up to learn more about how to properly venture into the US market.
Last, but certainly not least, in partnership with AXS Law Group, the BACCF hosteded an unforgettable Membership & Networking Event on April 18th. Thank you to all our participants and partners!
As we move forward, we would like to encourage everyone to attend our upcoming events:
Kind Regards,
