BACCF Excellence Award
HONORING Gloria Estefan
Famous Cuban-American singer, actress, and businesswoman Gloria Estefan is this year's Excellence Award honoree by the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (BACCF) in 2022, given her contributions to the musical traditions of Brazil.
A Life-long Dedication to Latin Music
A seven-time Grammy Award winner and a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, Gloria Estefan has been named one of the Top 100 greatest artists of all time by both VH1 and Billboard. Her career started as a lead singer in the Miami Latin Boys band, later renamed Miami Sound Machine. Together, they earned worldwide success with their 1985 single "Conga," which became Estefan's signature song and led to Miami Sound Machine winning the 15th annual Tokyo Music Festival's grand Prix in 1986. In 1988, she and Miami Sound Machine achieved their first number-one hit with "Anything for You." Gloria Estefan has been breaking down barriers and opening doors for Latin musicians, including Selena, Jon Secada, Shakira, and Ricky Martin.
